Behind The Wheel

Behind the Wheel is a 7 day course with each session being 50 minutes of driving and 50 minutes of observation. The last day will be the road test for students.
If a student takes behind the wheel during school hours, it may be more than 7 days. The cost for behind the wheel is $300 and can be paid by cash, check (made out to Brooke Point High School), or online payment. 

  • All students that sign-up for behind the wheel need to have the following prerequisites:
  1. Passed drivers education and have their certificate
  2. Attend one 90 minute Partners for Safe Teen Driver meeting (dates below)

  3. Have their driver's permit

  4. At least 20 hours of driving experience

  • Selection for behind the wheel is based on meeting the above requirements and eligibility date/hours of driving experience. Below are the links to sign-up for behind the wheel:

  • All 5 high schools will hold their first meeting of the year on August 26th from 6 - 730pm.
SHS May 5th - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
NSHS March 11th- 6:00pm - 7:30pm
BPHS November 4th- 6:00pm - 7:30pm
CFHS January 13th- 6:00pm - 7:30pm
MVHS October 16th- 6:00pm - 7:30pm

 

  • For students or parents looking to get another copy of their driver education certificate (DEC-1). Please email Matt Tucker at  tuckermb@staffordschools.net  or Kim Gaughan at gaughankl@staffordschools.net  After certificates are made, they can be coordinated to be picked up in our main office during school/office hours.
